How to Find Your First Business

Analyzing Yourself Deeper
To find what you truly want, you first need to understand yourself.
Your business ideas often come from your experiences, life, and the things you love. You might even have an idea in mind already, without even realizing it yet.
To get a deeper understanding of yourself, you should do some serious self-reflection.
For example, ask yourself: “What did I love doing as a kid?” “What were my interests in high school?” and “What could I do all night long without getting tired?”
How to Analyze Yourself Deeper
I recommend reading books on the topic of ‘self-analysis.’ There are many books in your country that can guide you on how to do this effectively.
For me, one of the books I read instructed me to create a timeline of my life, starting from when I was born.
When you do this, you need to analyze yourself seriously. If you only scratch the surface, you won’t find what you’re looking for.

Keep Reading and Listening
In addition to reading self-analysis books, I recommend continuously looking for books about tips for small businesses.
In fact, that’s exactly how I found my first business idea. One day, I stumbled upon an audiobook about reselling second-hand clothing.
‘Keep Reading and Listening’ means that you should actively look for books, audiobooks, videos, podcasts, and other resources about small businesses, and always have your ‘antenna’ up for new ideas.
The important thing is to keep searching until you find something that resonates with you.

My First Venture: Second-Hand Clothing

The Trigger Was an Audiobook
I’ll tell you about my personal experience. As I mentioned before, I stumbled upon an audiobook one day.
But this wasn’t just luck; I had been continuously searching for business ideas at the time.
To escape my life as a salaryman, I always had my ‘antenna up’ for new business ideas. This involved reading books, watching YouTube videos, and listening to audiobooks and podcasts about small businesses.
But remember, you need to analyze yourself before you start finding these resources because self-analysis is more important than information from outside sources.
I’ll say it again: you might already have the answer in your mind.
I Remembered What I Did in College
When I first listened to the audiobook about reselling second-hand clothing, I immediately thought, “I’ve done this before, back in college.”
When I was 18 or 19, I was into wearing eccentric clothing. But as I became an adult, I started wearing more normal clothes.

My eccentric fashion sense in college
So, I had sold those eccentric clothes I no longer wore on a flea market app. To sell them, I would take pictures for the product page and write compelling descriptions to attract customers.
It was a very exciting experience for me. Some of the products even sold for more than I originally paid for them. Looking back, this was the first time I truly enjoyed selling things.
However, when I analyzed myself to find my first business idea, I hadn’t even thought of this experience, despite how exciting it was.
That’s why I recommend both analyzing yourself deeply and looking for new ideas. Both are very important for starting your first business.
Starting as a Side Business
Starting to resell second-hand clothing was relatively easy for me because of my past experience.
While I was lucky to stumble upon that audiobook, I believe that always keeping my “antenna up” for new ideas led me to find it.
So, I finally decided to start reselling second-hand clothing as my first business.
I remember that starting my new business made me feel excited and happy every day. And it gave me hope of escaping my life as a salaryman.
Conclusion
Finding your first business doesn’t require a brand-new idea; it begins with looking inward.
By deeply analyzing your past experiences and passions, you may discover a hidden interest you’ve long forgotten.
My journey into reselling second-hand clothing proves that if you stay curious and keep your mind open, you can transform a past hobby into a fulfilling business venture.
I truly hope this blog inspires you to change your life!
